There’s something unforgettable about Eloping in Glacier National Park in August.

The sunrises are warm and golden, the mountain air is crisp in the morning and dreamy by dusk, and the wildflowers are still hanging on—just barely. If you’re planning an elopement in Glacier National Park this month, here’s what you can expect when it comes to weather, crowds, flowers, and florals.

August Weather in Glacier: Moody Meets Magic

August is one of the most beautiful (and busiest) months in the park. The days are long and typically warm, with highs in the 70s and 80s—but you’ll want to bring layers. Mornings and evenings can dip into the 40s, especially at higher elevations. Rain showers are infrequent but possible, so it’s smart to pack a clear umbrella and have backup plans if you’re headed to more remote locations like Logan Pass or Many Glacier.

Crowds & Timing: Early or Late Wins the Day

August is still peak tourist season. That means popular locations like Lake McDonald, Avalanche Lake, and Going-to-the-Sun Road will be buzzing with visitors.

Best tip? Elope at sunrise or just before sunset. Not only is the light softer and more romantic, but you’ll avoid crowds, find parking more easily, and have a quieter experience.

August Blooms: The Last of Summer’s Glory

By August, wildflower season is winding down—but the cultivated flowers on our farm are in full, glorious swing.

This month brings:

  • Dahlias in their prime—colorful, lush, and the highlight of many bridal bouquets.

  • Zinnias in every cheerful hue imaginable

  • Celosia, amaranth, cosmos, and strawflower

  • Soft grasses and textural greens that reflect the natural beauty of the park

If you love a wildflower-meets-garden vibe with lots of color and movement, August florals are a dream.

Floral Options for Elopements

We keep things simple and intentional with à la carte wedding florals. You can choose exactly what you need:

  • Bridal bouquet

  • Boutonnière

  • Bridesmaid bouquet(s)

  • Table arrangement or cake flowers if you’re hosting a post-ceremony dinner

All our blooms are grown right here on our sixth-generation farm just outside Kalispell, so your flowers reflect the land, season, and story of this moment in time.

Note: We don’t offer consultations, but you’ll share your colors and vibe via our intake form, and we’ll create something bespoke with what’s blooming that week for self-serve pick up here at our farm.

Permits & Planning Tips

  • Permit: Glacier National Park requires a special use permit for all weddings, even elopements. It’s typically $125 and you can learn more about the process here.

  • Leave No Trace: Stay on marked trails and avoid disrupting native plants or wildlife.

  • Vendors: Some areas may require vendors (like photographers or officiants) to carry their own permits.

  • Timing: The earlier you plan, the better. Lodging and permits book quickly in August.
